My Pseudo Drl/fog Lights Mod

Well today after work I noticed that one of the amber bulbs in my parking lights had burned out. I went to the local store to buy a pair of amber 1157 bulbs and ended up grabbing the clear bulbs on accident. I decided to just use them in the inner halves of the parking light assemblies, similar to how the DRLs and parking lights are set up on the GMT800 trucks. Then I got the idea to swap the wires going to the clear bulbs, so the bright filament would always be lit while I had the lights on. The dimmer filament would then come on with the blinker.

Attached below is the result, sorry for the crappy cell pic. I like it, but there are two problems bugging me.

1) I didn't think about this first, but the dim filament only pulls about 5 watts, while the the bright filament pulls about 21 watts. I'm worried that not only is this an extra load on the headlight switch, but it's going to cause a lot of heat build-up in the bulb socket and parking light assembly.

2) The hazard flasher still works fine, but the blinkers run too fast now. I guess one 5 watt filament isn't enough of a load for the thermal flashers, but two of them (hazards) is. I think a solid-state flasher would fix the problem.

Any advice? I want to keep this mod, but I'm worried about the extra load and heat build-up.
