Oxygen Sensor Question

hi everyone, this is my first post on this site, it looks like there is alot of good information here. i bought my first chevy in 20 years, i bought a 96 extended cab dually with a 454 automatic. it has a new engine and transmission, also the oxygen sensors in the manifolds were replaced maybe 100 miles ago and the service engine soon light comes on today, i took it to autozone and they told me the code is for (low voltage on the oxygen sensor on bank one) can anyone tell me what i should do, i realize there are four sensors, i just wonder if i should change the other two now. any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Welcome to the forum! I'm kinda new here too.

 

It may be that the sensors are giving strange feedback to the computer that it isn't used to reading. The o2 sensors are likely picking up new information the computer is trying to deal with. Maybe the computer was used to reading fuel rich, oil residue contaminated exhaust and now....fresh new motor. Big difference. If it hasn't been done, you could try disconnecting the battery overnight to clear the computer. Long as the oil pressure is good, temperature is good, no unusual sounds, the motor is fine. I had a 97 S10 with a rebuilt motor and it was doing the same thing for a while and the knock sensor. I know my puddle jumper is quite different from that monster you have but, the function/concept is still the same. It did come on from time to time but, with some highway driving it would go away. I disconnected mine for an hour or so and the light never came back on.

thanks for the response. i was wondering if a dirty air filter would put some kind of a weird reading out of the sensors. i checked the giant air filter and it could stand to be changed but it wasn't totally clogged up with dirt. just thinking of the easiest things first. everything is seems to be running the way it should with no problems, i am getting anywhere from 12-14 miles per gallon. runs steady, doesn't smell real bad out of the exhaust, like i said the service engine soon light came on yesterday and stays on. thanks for any help.
