Anyone have any experience with having it done? The other night my truck got it's first dent and second, and third, all at the same time.

 

Here is an example I made in Paint. This is just a random pic of my truck I used.

Long story short, someone got shoved into the bed and left a butt dent, and two elbow dents. The elbow dents are very shallow, in fact not as bad as most door dings.

 

The butt dent is deeper and a little larger, but it is not on the crease above the wheel arch and the arch itself is still straight.

 

Can PDR help me?????? Any ideas on the cost? Any one know of an business that does this around the Detroit area? I am going for an estimate next week,

but by that time I may not even care anymore. :lol:

That's a little far away. Do you have any pictures from a weeee bit closer up..?

 

I can't capute the dents in a picture, I tried to last night. This pic was just to show where the dents are.

 

Maybe I'll try again.

Whether or not PDR is a viable option really depends on the depth and type of dent. I'm sure someone can describe it better than I can, though..

 

As far as getting the pictures goes... See if you can get at an "off" angle and get something to reflect on the paint. I had some hail damage on my last car and it seemed that about the only way the dents showed-up were if I got at an angle and had something for the reflection to distort..

I am very interested in this, and we have a few places that do it.

 

My Tahoe has some a$$hole dings in the doors.

I'm very interested as well. I've got two dings in a driver side door that was inevitably going to happen when I had to wedge the truck in a spot at school(it was the ONLY spot available).

These dents look much worse than mine do. Both larger and deeper. The two elbow dents higher up are very faint, less than most door dings I see.

 

The dent on the wheel arch is the worst and does not look as deep as the dent in the first pic. I've tried to catch the dent at all angles with the camera,

the Silver Birch hides it very well.

 

Darkanion- Was this vehicle fixed using PDR or was paint needed? I'd rather live with the dents I have, than have the bed painted.

Sorry to hear, dings suck. Ive had dent removal done a few times and from my experiences, it worked very well. Depending on size and depth, you should be happy with your results. In my case, it depended on where the ding was and how accessible

it was to get to the backside of it. Usually, if your getting more than one out, its cheaper per ding. I paid about $120 to get one out of my extended cab door. He came to me at my work and did it all. Took him about 15 minutes. It looked like someone punched it. It left a crease about 1''X4" in the shape of someones knuckles. Definately worth the money. The last guy I used charged me less but I had to travel to the otherside of town to meet him. He did it at a dealership on the side. $80 for a roughly 2''X6" dent. I found the guy by calling a few Chevy dealerships.

The insurance and the body-shop claimed they could PDR the trunk, hood, and fenders.. The roof/top, unfortunately, was going to have to be cut off, replaced, repainted, and they would "blend" the pearlescent black paint from the top into the fenders. "You'll never notice a difference! It'll be good as new, maybe even better!"

 

I didn't believe or trust that the car would ever be "the same." So, I took the insurance check, paid off the car, and traded it in on the truck.

 

Do any of the dents look "creased" or are they on any bends in the sheetmetal? I think that was part of the reason they were going to have to remove the top on that car. Some of the dents were at the edges of the top, where the rain channels were.. and they knew they couldn't fix that, because the sheetmetal was already bent for the channel and the hail bent that.

A good PDR guy can make dents like that go away completely. The good ones can do amazing work.

X2 A good friend of mine has been doing this for about 12 years now. He is amzing. I have seen hail cars with well over a hundred dents in them that he has looking new when he his done. Anyone in the Salt Lake area needs dents removed let me know.

I've used PDR on both of my 07's. If you use a good guy he can do amazing things.. The only dent he was not able to get out was a dent on the edge of the rear fender well on the Yukon Denali. He said since it was on the edge the metal was thicker and could not be manipulated as much. He did make it look less noticeable. The kicker is the dealership dented it while it was in for warranty work :banghead: They offered to have the entire panel redone but I took a check instead, did not want a different shade of paint. YMMV.

+1 There are no sharp bends in that area and the metal is pretty thin there. It's also very accessible, I would think any good PDR guy could get it done fairly easily. I was watching ours work out the corner of my eye Thursday and that guy is an artist. Of course not all PDR people are of the same skill level but check around you locally for one that people would recommend after using and those dents should be gone in short order.

Just came from a body shop that works with "Dent Wizzard"

 

Quote came to 261.00 for three dents! :loser:

 

211.00 for dent on wheel arch, 50.00 for both of the smaller dents, and this was a special price because they are so close together.

 

No thank you, my truck got it's first battle scar, many more to come!!!!

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.

      2026 6.6 L5P oil cooler leaking oil at 4,000 miles

      New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?

      Seems to be Missing a lot of Updates

      So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.
