Toyota?

My son is buying a new Tundra - I looked over the brochure, and after hearing the price, and the 381hp V8 with a 6 speed, it sounds like it's too good to pass up. I have always been a GM owner, and don't know much about these. What are the pro's and con's?

Pros: Alot power for towing, racing etc. Overall good quality, well built.....Strong.

Cons: Bad gas mileage, less stylish than new GM trucks, not as comfortable and luxury equipped as the new GM trucks. And if Im not mistaken kinda pricey...I know my 2006 Toyota Tacoma wasnt cheap.

Well, asking on here you're going to get a very GM biased opinion.

Pros: Lots of power, can get either a small crew cab, or a giant one, available with a 4.30 rear end

Cons: Weak tailgate, supposedly a beast on gas, supposedly a very rough ride, bucket seats are uncomfortable to a lot of people, cheap feeling plastic interior, I think they had transmission vibration problems (not sure if this is still an issue), and maybe front diff issues.

I'm no expert, and I haven't driven one, this is all stuff I've read in reviews.

One thing I do know for damn sure: It is FUGLY inside and out.

EDIT: Just another thing to note, Consumer Reports, who is notoriously Toyota-friendly, has taken the Tundra off its "Recommended" list.

Get a V-Max, it is a way better truck than the Tundra.

Damn for being "The Truck thats Changing it All"....thats not too good being taken off a recommended list. lol

The fact that they are giving them away to sell ALMOST 10% annually of what GM sells should say something.

Pro : It's not a Nissan.

Con : It's not a GM.

Look around for deals on Silverados and Sierras. Just because Toyota is "giving them away" doesn't mean the Tundra is necessarily a good long-term deal. One reason I went with a GMC pickup when I bought mine was this... In my mind, Nissan and Toyota are trying to do what GM, Ford, and Dodge have BEEN doing for DECADES. So, I went with the real deal and not the import knock-off...
