CAN THE ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT BE DEACTIVATED (disabled, cut-off, killed, stopped) ON A 2008 CHEVY 1500 TRUCK WITH THE 5.3L ENGINE?

A custom tune from Blackbear, Wheatley, Nelson etc. will be able to disable AFM, and some handheld tuners can as well.

It's always good to mention that "the search didn't yield any results", that seems to be everyone's first reply if it wasn't mentioned, I just beat everyone else to it

Get a custom tune, www.blackbearperformance.com, that should Disable the AFM.

Where you from Lance? I ask because there are several group-tunes going on in Minnesota, Dallas, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, & Georgia right now. Justin from Black Bear is doing these tunes and if you want to drive to one of these to wake-up-that-beast, he can also Disable your AFM.

I did and there are multiple threads with that information in them.

Been down the road with my CTS and drove away from the dealer with a rental car because what they said was going to take 30 min ended parking my CTS for 3 days waiting for a new PCM because of logic lock.

Shit happens, no one can forsee a logic lock. But I'm sure you are way smarter than we are .

Can I have your vin. I have an idea about a fix but instead of looking all day for it if I have your vin I can quickly verify what I am thinking for a fix before I send it to you.

I wrote that on there. Dealer gave me the TSB because I asked him for it. I wanted to know what they proposed to do should that be the problem. I don't let the dealer do a thing to any of my vehicles until I know exactly what they are going to do. Here is a TSB on AFM issues. My 08 has vibrations in V4 but the trans checked out per the test indicated. They are waiting for GM to find a solution but I have not heard back yet.

How come that bulliten has "not the problem" written on it?
