Transmission Reflash

Hi,

 

Wondering about a transmission reflash for my 05 Silverado 4x4 1500. I don't have any idea about costs at a dealer or if getting a tune would update the transmission? Any info would be appreciated. Would a reflash to latest program improve shift performance, feel, and a slight clunk from then 4l60e? (Not the driveline clunk). Is it possible to get the lastest flash file online and flash the transmission myself with computer and cables (designed for this procedure)?

why u wanna do that? Having issues with it? At my dealer we would prolly charge an hours labor.. doesnt cost anything or use any new parts to reprogram something so... i would think it would be 100 bucks or so. but hell.. what'd i know... service writers are crazy. lol

Phil, not sure if you're still around since this post was a few weeks ago. I have a '06 Sierra with a 4L60e tranny too. I put in a Corvette Servo in last weekend, it really improved the 1-2 shift 9no clunk) and the 2-4 shifting is much smoother. My suggestion, get a (Black Bear) tune to increase the line pressure after putting in the servo + the tune will adjust shift points.

Thanks for the replys. Having a small problem where I get slipping (very random) and slight knock/clunk when I start from a stop or red light. I seen a TSB for a slipping tranny on the 05 and thought that may help my problem. Got a GM tech to have a look but could not repeat the problem or he said it was normal. May try the servo and tune. Also changed the tranny filter and added 5 quarts of Castrol Dex IV, but no change. (any DIY links with pictures on servo install?)
