More Steering Issues

Well, having more steering issues. I know there is a huge problem with the intermediate steering shaft. So I replaced it with the new model number. My problem now is not really a clunking sound when cornering or going over bumps like most of you are describing. My problem feels like the power steering fluid is low, but is is not. It gives kind of that metal rubbing sound coming from the gearbox area. The noise becomes worse the longer I drive. It is not so bad when the truck is cold and the steering is cold, but worsens as I drive longer. The most noticeable is when I am backing up, and I turn the wheel to the left, but also when making low speed turns, such as in parking lots to the left and right. Had the same issue on my 2002 Chevy that I used to have, it is more than annoying me, it is really starting to p*ss me off. I have seen a couple of other descriptions similar to mine in these forums, but never really an answer to the problem. I have seen a few things about the steering gear? Or the gearbox type (670 or 680)? Any suggestions as to what may be the problem? Or is this just another bi-product of our favorite little steering shaft? I love GMs, but I hate this kind of little nonsense that has been going on continuously since '99. I have had very few issues with the Toyota's that I have owned. Hope I don't have to make a permanent switch, because I love American made.

If once you get truck warm and the noise if very noticeable, will your truck still make the noise when stopped and you turn the wheels? Or only when the truck is moving?

It seems that only hear the noise when I'm rolling a little. If stopped I do not hear it.
