Whining Noise When Starting

I have a 2005 Enovy and lately when i start it, usually after it's been sitting a while, it makes a high pitched whining noise for about 10-15 seconds, then the noise stops. Also, sometimes immediately after starting, it sputters a little like it's about to stall, and then idles fine. Now the other day sometimes i tap the gas and it hesitates and it actually stalled in a drive thru while idling and creeping forward to move up. Could this be signs that the fuel pump is going bad?

Also, i've had to replace the left tie rod end, twice already. The original wore out around 45,000 miles, and the replacement actually popped out, while driving. not cool. Anyone had this happen (tie rod wearing out prematurely)?

Sounds like a fuel pump to me. But I'm far from an expert in these matters.

Mine was the Idler Pulley.

It does not sound like that. it does not make the noise while giving it gas, or go away that way. it's just about 10-15 seconds when i first start the car after it sits a while. just a constant, steady whine when either idling or putting it in gear and moving. and once it stops, it doesn't come back. it reminds me of a jet engine starting up. and then if i drive somewhere, get out for about 10 minutes or so, sometimes i'll go to restart it, it will start good, then sputter like it's about to stall, but then rev back up and be fine. Then the other day it did actually stall while just idling. that's why i was thinking it was the fuel pump, but all the other cars i had with bad fuel pumps worked one day just fine, then the next start they just cranked and never started.

My 2005 Envoy makes that noise also when I first it in the morning. After driving it a few mins, it goes away.

Someone told me it's the auto choke funtion. I could not tell if it was a squeak or a hight pitch whine.

Now we just need to know what it is....LOL

I just did a idler pully, so I know what that sounds like now. It's more of a moaning sound that does not go away.

Will be fixed (hopefully) in about 1 week when i get home. will let everyone know what happens.
