Nbs & Aftermarket Remote Start/alarm

My truck came with the remote start and I've never been impressed with it. I've read all

the threads about the advanced remote and it seems the range isn't really that great on

it. I know on the show Trucks when they first showed it they said the range was supposed

to be 1000ft but I think the tech at the local dealer said 600ft.

Just wondering how many of you have installed aftermarkets and what brand you got. I

think I'd really be interested in the ones with the 1 mile range. Not that I'd ever need that

much range, but seems the extra strength would help when in buildings when your a 1/4 to 1/2

away. The prices don't seem much different when you add the alarm to the kit so figured might

as well get it with both. I did a search but couldn't really find much. I know one of the audio places

here said they sell a lot of Ultra brand. Any info appreciated.

I had an Astrostart 2-way start/alarm combo with the fancy LCD screen installed in Feb '07 and love it. I'm not positive but I think it was $525.00 installed.

What kind of range is this unit supposed to have and does it get close to it. I'm looking for a really good unit, but after very much searching I cant seem to find many reviews on the different brands.

Up in canada here we have a brand called Titan Innovations. There top of the line starter has 4000 feet range. But if you want unlimited range they have a system that is set up that you can set up a box hooked up to the starter that you can text on your cell phone to start your car how cool is that

I recently had an AstroStart installed and have been happy w/ it. It claims a 2000' range, but that is without any obstructions. I have to park my truck too far away at work, so I had them install the timer option which I can set to start at a certain time and it runs for 18 minutes to warm up before I leave. Works great for me cause I always leave work at the same time and the truck is all warm and ready to go. The factory remote start still works on the factory fob, so I don't even carry the astrostart fob at all.

Its rated at 2000 ft.

I would guess I park about 200 yards from my office. A point to make though is that I have an interior office, so the signal goes through four walls, and the last one is brick…

I see you’re from MI so I’ll do some name dropping. I had mine installed by The Other Guy’s and everything functions as it did before the install. I couldn’t be happier, it’s a great unit!
