Front Differential

Went to check front differential fluid today and cant find the upper fill hole. I had numerous vehicles prior to the NBS and there has always been a fill hole 3/4 the way to the top. The only nut close to that spot is a 18mm nut with a wide flange. It won't loosen so I did push the issue with it.

Can anybody post the proper procedure to check the front diff. fluid on a 2008 Chevy 4x4?
