Oil Pressure Gauge Gone Haywire?

I have an 04 silverado z71. I was driving down the highway and the oil pressure gauge not only maxed out it pegged the bottom of the gauge. The truck isnt running strange at all. No shakes, rattles, or pings. I was wondering if this was a result of the faulty gauge issue?

It could be a faulty gage. I believe all newer gages are electric, but I could be mistaken.

 

I thought I had a bad oil pump on my truck until I re-lashed the valves and re-timed it. That took care of a misfire AND settled down my oil pressure gage. I probably should have put a new timing chain on it too, but if I can get a little more life out of it before spending any money, it sounds fair enough to me.

You need a new instrument cluster. GM has a TSB out on faulty clusters. You may have recieved something in the mail about this also...
