Firestone Destination At's

Ive done a little searching to find that atleast 2 of you have run these tires previously, or may even have them on now. Tire rack gives them a pretty good review and I was wondering what anyone who has had Firestone Destination AT's thought of them. My General Americraps are finished, and I would like to get new shoes on before it gets slippery out.

I've never owned a set personally, but I know a couple of guy's who won't run anything else. I just bought a set of Dayton Timberline A/T's. They are about the same, and are affiliated with Firestone and Bridgestone. Hope you get the answer you are wanting to hear.

I have them on my 99 and like them as much as any other AT tire I've driven on (Goodyear RTS - worst tire ever, Michelin CrossTerrain - great tire, terrible wear, Bridgestone Revo - a more expensive version of the Firestone, Nitto Terra Grappler - I like this tire on my new truck but wet performance is disappointing)

I have the Destination ATs on my work sled Explorer (245-75-16) and they are excellent. Ride and handling are better than anything else I have had on it in nearly 140K. Also had a set on my Jeep that I Liked very well, and my Dad has a set on his Suburban. All were bought from Tirerack except for the Explorer's. The local Firestone dealer matched Tirerack's price so I bought them here.

I was never a Firestone fan, but since they are now owned by Bridgestone, I have to say they have been great. GO FOR IT!

I like stuff that is worth the money. I've been disappointed with some tires over the years so I started reading Tirerack's reviews before buying. That's how I heard about the Firestones. I do like them. The only AT tire I actually like better is the BFG AT KO but damn they have gotten expensive and they get loud after 20K or so.

I agree with worth. The price of new tires seem to go up every few month's. It's getting crazy. That is why I bought the Dayton's. I've had them give me 80K miles before. I had a set of Mastercraft/Courser on my truck, and they were shot before 40K.

Thanks for the replies. I am definately going to go with Tirerack for these. The only place in town that carries Firestone is my local dealership. At the moment they are having their "huge tire sale". When I asked about these, they told me I could get a set for the low low price of $934.00. The only thing I will be going to them for is a new grille, and that becasue its covered by insurance.

............ they told me I could get a set for the low low price of $934.00.

And dealers WONDER why they are going broke. They have screwed the public for so long they believe it is their right. One of these days, they will find out about the internet... and competition.

I had them on my 99 and I swear to you that I got about 70-80k out of them... But I was nice to them.. I have heard people say that they only got 40-50k out of them!

I have always liked the Firestones AT I just wish the were a little more aggressive than the BFG AT'S...

my dad had them on his 99 silverado, he got an honest 60,000 miles out of them. winter traction was good, he never got stuck on northern Michigan roads in the 4 years he owned them.

I had dayton timberland MT's and they were almost the exact same tire as the Firestone destination MT's. the dayton's were about $25 cheaper a tire than the Firestones, so the savings added up. I'm pretty sure that the AT lineup's are like the MT's, and that dayton has an AT tire almost the same as the Firestone AT.

see if you can find a Dayton AT from a local tire shop and make any significant savings. otherwise the firestone's are a great tire.

just my $.02

Honestly, unless your getting a really great deal on the Firestones you can get a much better tire for your money with different brand like a Michelin.

If you're going for tire wear and drivability, then go for them for sure. THey came on my truck when my dad first bought it in 99, and he got...no joke....90k miles on them. The guy at the store where he got the new ones didn't believe him when he told them that the tires were the origonals.

I have them on now for winter and I like them so far, only a few hundred miles. The ride so far has been nice and they seem to do well in wet weather, havent had any snow to try them out in yet.
