A little over a month ago, I put a partridge through my grille on my way to work. So i went and met with the insurance adjuster and was suprised that his system showed it would cost roughly $650 to get it replaced. So i go into the body shop at the dealer I bought the truck at adn got a quote being that is where I will probably take it to get it fixed. Their estimate showed the cost of $496 plus $60 to replace it. I told them i would get back to them and proceeded to go over to the parts department to price a couple things i cant afford out. Sitting on their wall is a brand new denali grille for $334. How is it that my base 4 bar black plastic grille can cost over $150 more then their fancy denali grille? No wonder our insurance rates are so friggin high. As soon as you say insurance, everyone at these body shops start licking their lips and trying to figure out just how much they can screw the insurance company for. Sorry I jsut had to get this written down.

I agree! and their workmanship is horrible! many many cut corners! to bad you couldn`t personally handle the insurance paperwork after the repair, that way you can at least work on a better settlement/cost!

 

 

However from experience it is sweet when you get a good adjuster who gives you great cost of replacement value! (although i do see in the long run how it affects everyones insurance.... but oh new vehicle smell!) LOL
