Blacking Out Tail Lights 08 Silverado

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on blacking out my tail lights to go along with a blacked out front badge, and black wheels to come soon.

I was wondering if anyone has found the most effective way to do this? I know they make pre-cut tint, but would it be easier and cheaper to just run to a tint shop and have them take care of it?

And would window tint be durable in the long run?

Any advice appreciated!

Have an auto body shop add a drop of black basecoat to clearcoat and have them spray it once. You can control how dark you want it by how much black they add to the clearcoat. Then you can wax it with the rest of your truck.

VHT makes a tinted clear coat in a spray can called Nightshades. Works great. Put on light layers until you get the look you want and then follow with a good clear to get a nice shine.

VHT FTL. Not as good as having it tinted/painted professionally.
