Struck Out With Oil Leak Problem Again.

There has been a number of threads about the oil leak problems some of us have and the multiple trips to the dealer to fix them. After three trips to the closest dealer with no results. Two, can`t find the leak and one, fixing a connection on the oil cooler line. I took it to a different dealer. Now, it is not a big leak, maybe 1 drop every two weeks. But that is not acceptable on a year and a half old truck. So I drop it off for it`s appointment and a couple of hours later I get a call that they can not find a leak. In fact, it is as dry as a bone. I go pick up the truck after work. The service manager says bring it back if there is a visible leak. I take the keys, find the truck, crawl under and sure enough there is a drop of oil where the engine and bell housing meet. I drive into the service area and without saying a word crawl under the truck, wipe the oil off the engine with my finger, and smear it on his counter. He looks at me and states, " I don`t know what to say". I get in my truck and go. I am tired of putting up with places who do not want to do a good job. My guess is that GM does not pay enough hours on this problem for the wrench to make any money so he just blows it off. Anyway, can someone give me the number of the district service rep for the Chicago area? I think a call to them is the only way I am going to get this fixed.

You should pursue Lemon Law, because it seems you are very unhappy with the product.

 

Up here in Wisconsin, an authorized Dealer has four (4) attempts to fix a noted problem. If all attempts fail, immediate buyback is likely to occur.

 

Sounds like your rear main oil seal is leaking. Can't understand why all your dealers seem too "chicken" to fix it...

It is either the Rear Main Seal and/or the Crank Position Sensor O-ring. Shouldn't be that tough.

That sucks. It's ridiculous that the dealer can't fix it. No wonder you are at the limit on this deal.

 

I'd try going to the next level for sure in the service chain. If not, I'd pursue the possibility of a lemon law settlement. I'm all for giving them a chance to fix it first, but if they aren't going to really try.. F EM!
