Smoke Test

Gm uses a smoke test to test for leaks does anyone know if it is available on the market,they used it to find a leak on gas tank Thanks and HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

I've heard it used on air intakes to find a leak; never on a gas tank though (not saying they don't, just never heard of it).

If you are looking for something to find a gas tank leak, you may want to go to the dealer. I was at my parents place and my mom asked me to take her Envoy to my oil change guy and ask him to see if the gas tank was leaking. Seems she suspected it was and brought it to the dealer. The put some blue dye in the tank (unfortunately I don't know the name), told her to fill it up and drive around for a couple of days. They said even if there is the smallest leak, you will be able to see it. Turned out there was no leak. I think she just overfilled the tank and spilled some, took it home and smelled gas in the garage when she had the door closed. I had never heard of any product that did this for gas until this. You may want to research it a bit. Hope this helps.

Was not in gas tank had evap emmisions code and found bad hose, any thing less expensive for a one time deal that anyone knows about

unfortunatley anything to do with the evap system is going to cost you as far as testers. The ones the dealers use cost about five times that from what I understand.
