Alright.. i only have a 105 AMP Alternator..

 

im pretty sure the Z71's came with a 140 amp.. can i simply just buy one from a different truck and put it mine?

I have the 140 in mine but it looks nothing like the 1/2 tons alt. have you checked into getting a bigger stator kit? some good audio shops and maybe outfitters sell them, putting it in your alternator is snap.... although it may cost the same anyways

so you just rebuild your stock alt with different parts and it puts out more Amps?

Well, you could always try searching. RockAuto shows them up through 140 amp for your truck

yes that would be all your NEED but if you wanted to you could get new bearings and brushes....optional though, i turned my old 60 amp`r from my 80 chevy into a 140...peice a cake

that is the part number should i just buy it form the dealer? an extra 35 amps would be very handy
