12 Volt Power Supply

Where would be re best place to get a 12 volt power supply to run for a few small bed cargo lights? Also what is needed to get 12 Volts at the 7 pin trailer harness?

Any answers to either would be greatly appreciated.

Look for a heavy red wire with a ring terminal tied up under the brake booster. That wire is the 12v power lead to the trailer harness connector. The lead attaches to the #1 stud (right side) in front of the underhood electrical center. Remove the cover and you wil see the two studs. The right side stud should not have a wire attached to it. You will need to find a 6mm nut to attach the wire. Do a search on "trailer harness" and you might find a pic of the stud in one of the posts.

 

There is also a fuse needed for this stud and it's a 40A J-Case fuse. My owner's manual shows it to be fuse #68 and is at the lower left corner of the electrical center as you stand over the left front wheel. If you will ever tow a trailer with electric brakes, you will need a 60A J-case fuse in position 63 which is just above the #68 fuse. Doesn't hurt to install the fuse anyway.

 

As far as bed lights, you could use the same stud and run a separate wire back to the bed with a switch to power the lights. YOu just have to remember to turn off the lights.
