2008 "heavy-duty Automatic Locking Rear"

Howdy, folks and forgive if this an often repeated topic. Couldn't find anything in the SEARCH feature. Ages ago, when a full-sized GM truck's description sheet listed a "heavy-duty automatic locking rear", Eaton G80 was the unit. My new 2008 1500 has a "... Differential, heavy-duty automatic locking rear..." but there is no brand name in the descriptor. Obviously, I could have missed this.

 

Anyway, does anyone know?

Yeah Larry,Its still made by EATON.

 

As a matter of fact we just got a whole bunch of DVD's/CD-ROM's in at the dealership to give to customers explaining how it works,There pretty neat videos,They even show how Ford's and Dodge's get stuck because they don't offer the EATON G80 locker. They even sent an actual full-size 8.6" locking rear differential mounted on a stand so you can demonstrate and show customers how it works

You mean one of the "demo G80 lockers" on the stand? It is pretty cool,And I already have my eyes on it for whenever they decide to "throw it away" Although it won't fit my truck since I have the 9.5" rear-end,It would still be pretty neat to have!
