i have a 01 Sierra 4.8L V8 4X4 with a 6" suspension and a 3" body lift. i am changing out tires from 33 to 35's and i need to know what the best gears would be to use and if i should just buy a new axle and start from scratch. i am also trying to find out what size my axle is now

1. You should be able to check your option codes (generally found as a sticker in the glovebox) and use the cross-reference thread on this site to determine what gear ratio you have currently.

 

2. If you DO swap gears, you need to also swap out the front gears, or you will cause binding in your t-case and probably do some substantial damage.
