Block Heater

I have a 2005 2500 crew cab with the 6.0 litre gas engine. I have read about block heaters coming standard on these trucks. I thought it was only on diesels. Can anyone verify that??? Thanks!!!

Nope not standard you have to check the little square box if you want one when you place your order. Option #2 have the dealer install one. They did mine for $125. Well worth it.

The RPO code for my block heater is K05, and if it is listed inside the glove box, then you have one. Kind of hard to find inside the engine compartment as the friggin cord is only about 8 inches long.

The block heater can be seen from the top left hand side. My '00 has it at the back of the block and I also looked at an '08 and it was at the front of the block. Probably can find it faster that way then looking through all them codes.

On the '08 Denali's, they are standard in Canada, optional in the U.S. It would probably be the same through the rest of the lineup. And since they don't work until -18C/0F, they should only be standard in Alaska!

Well, it's more than -18 here in Winnipeg right now. I got that shiity cord end but at this temp the block heater should be working right?? But I don't hear anything coming from it. I checked the cord with a power tester light and it lights up before and after the shitty plug but I still don't hear nothing. Are these ones way quieter than the older trucks or is mine fuked??? The truck starts ok but takes a fare bit of time to warm up. It should be pushing warm air right away, no?? My old 88 heats up quicked than this 05.

I used mine for the 1st time this week on the '05 I purchased last spring and thought it was not working also. I plugged it in and listened and could not hear anything like on my old '95. So I plugged it in, crawled under behind the drivers side tire, reached up and touched it. I quickly discovered that it was working very well when I nearly burnt the end of my finger. It is not the same old "tea kettle" sound as the old ones thats for sure.
