Cargo Lamp - Can We Make It Illuminate While Unlocking Doors?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra. What I would like is for the cargo lamp to come on when you press the unlock button on the fob. I've selected entry lights, ON using the onboard supercomputer, however the cargo lamps do not illuminate. My last truck did. I always like to make sure no one is trying to ride in the bed of the truck on a dark night without paying their share for gas.

Anyone have an idea on getting our GM trucks to do this?

Thanks.

That Sir...is absolutely hilarious! I startled my family in the other room laughing so hard!

I don't know how to make it work either but the trunk monkey is an all time favorite. I had not seen a couple of them.

Funny stuff.

Your inside dome light comes on when you use the remote.

Why couldn't you run a wire from the inside dome light to the cargo light?

It's a poor design.

The bed lights should be programmed to come on with the keyfob.

They should also be programmed to come on when the truck is in reverse (it only works in park with the interior lights on).

thats to keep yo from driving around with it on like fords do.

I can understand not having it on while in drive, but there's no reason to have it turn off when in reverse.

Yes, there is. With the cargo light on, it lights up the bed and reflects back towards the cab, which makes it almost impossible to see behind the bed. If there's something bright between your eyes and where you are trying to look, it makes what you're trying to look at look even darker (should I say "look" a few more times?)

If truck mfrs wanted reverse lights on the cab, they would have put them there. :D

This is the same thing that makes me wonder why the hell someone would fill their dash with bright-ass LEDs. I want to see down the road, not in the cab.
