I heard one too many Dinovite commercials and am at my wits end. Remember we were told no commercials? And the merger would give us more channels, better programs and no cost increase? Now they want more money for the premium sirus channels! O&A even are getting so queer I can't take it. And how many SpeedPass commercials have I heard?

 

I lost it and cancelled today. even made them send the unused portion of my second subscription back.

How is everyone else feeling?

When my "free" subscription ended, that 1 station I listened to didn't justify renewing it. . . and for about 8 months they would call non-stop, asking me to re-join

 

 

And what pissed me off even more, they included the 3month service and XM ant/receiver into the invoice. . . so I basically HAD to pay for an extra option that I never wanted.

I've always felt like paying for radio was pointless. If I pay, I want to listen to EXACTLY what I want, not kinda sorta something close. :jester:

 

That's why I won't pay for it.

 

And it really sticks in my craw that I pay for 400 cable channels I'll never watch just to get the half-dozen I want.

bout had it myself.

I have been with them since the satellite went up. Always signed for for multi year subscription. Last feb signed a three year contract. I get a letter 3 weeks ago that I owe them 135.00. I spend close to 5 hours of my time on the phone and get 5 different stories of why the charge is there. from "i have no idea" to "we added another year to your account when I switched radios to the new Sierra. Then they charged my credit card without my approval. Now the credit card company is involved. It was actually comical when I reported it to the card company and the card rep called XM for a three way call. he was as frustrated as I have been.

Problem is I like it so much they have me by the proverbial *alls.

Not sure what I will do after this gets worked out. Mostly I like the service for my motorcycle travels

the music channels don't have any commercials so I have no complaints. Sirius XM is still far better than the crap on terrestrial radio.

I only had a couple stations that I listened to. To me the regular radio sounded better,

and CD's are much better. I would also get brief breaks in reception, which drove me crazy.

Those were usually only a couple seconds or so, but it happened every day.

 

Oddly enough I have received one letter in the mail to renew, but no phone calls.

My sound quality was good with XM the only thing I noticed was that you have to turn the volume up a lot more (Louder) than FM or the CD not a issue for me. For the money I would have spent in XM I will invest it towards a new System as I just did not get enough out of XM to justify the cost.

I never listen to radio [outside of work] anymore. All of my music is stored on a flash drive, so I just plug it into my DVD player or headunit, and I can listen to what I want, when I want.

 

My free trial ran out....finally! The service was not very good and poor sound quality.

There is no way I would pay for that.

The poor dynamic range and compression artifacts are brutally obvious to me, but most people will never notice or care.

Agreed! That's why I burn MP3 CDs to listen to. I pick it.. and, if I've ripped them at a reasonably good quality, I'll hardly ever notice the difference between CD and MP3, but get HOURS of listening time... for the cost of a CD-R. Eaaaaaaaaasy choice for me! :lol:

There were a FEW channels that sounded ok. But, most of them sounded like badly badly badly compressed MP3's.. No way am I paying for that crap.

They called me for MONTHS, trying to get me to signup, after my initial trial ran out. That irritated me so much I can't think of a reason or a way that I'd PAY for that service. If I want your friggin service, I have the phone # to call and sign-up again... or just send me an email once a month or something. 2 or 3 calls a DAY is RIDICULOUS!

I've had both Sirius & XM in the past, including on rental cars. XM does have more compression artifacts (to my ears) than Sirius & has worse channels too.

 

But ever since I put an iPod connector on my stereo, I just don't see the point! WAY better to choose the ones I want. Heck, I once listened to 172 Eric Clapton songs in a row on a road trip just because I could. Never once dropped out, never once had a commercial, never had audible compression artifacts, and only cost me one time (for the hardware to connect it).

 

I've never listened to *any* radio channel longer than an hour in my life - just can't stand the stuff they sometimes play, the commercials, etc.

      This is NOT impact damage nor neglect. There were previous class action lawsuits because of such paint preparation st GM manufacturing plant. Not just the Cherry Red Color. This paint is applied in three processes to obtain the desired color.  The manufacturer will cover for 36 months or 36k miles only. That rust is actually corrosion because of the paint process failure. Corrosion is covered for 100,100 miles or a certain months. However their corrosion doesn't include this type. Go figure. Clearly manufacturer knew from previous paint issues. This started 3 weeks ago out of the blue.

      consider doing electrical testing?  I would guess some power or ground wire/connection has a problem.   alldata.com has wiring diagrams, connector pinouts and diagnostic procedures you can use to find where the problem is.

      can you tell if the reader is actually trying to get codes, and the pcm is reporting none, or is your reader just silently failing because it's not communicating with the pcm?

      Any joy with this truck seems to be short-lived.   The CEL for P0172 ("bank 1" too rich) is now "intermittent".   I'm not sure where to check, or re-check, and my energy to keep chasing problems with junk is wearing thin. The P0172 seems to set as I'm coming to a stop, completely off the throttle, when fully warm. At least, that's what it's done the 3? times it's set.   Everything appears normal on the scanner EXCEPT long term fuel trim. There's only one bank on this vehicle because it's an OBD 1.5 with only one upstream O2 sensor. At idle, it's around -16.4% and will dip to -18% occasionally at idle or off-throttle. LTFT approaches 0 when throttle is held at 2500rpm. Short term appears normal, much closer to zero all the time. The LTFT tells me the engine is running rich at idle but compensating at higher load. But, why?   The EVAP purge valve doesn't appear to be leaking/sucking fuel vapor continuously. Is it sticking just as I come to a stop and the engine is choking on fuel vapor and sets the P0172? But that doesn't explain the persistently negative LTFT. Disconnecting the purge valve doesn't seem to make any difference.   I suppose that leaves another dang issue with the fuel injector. A leaking fuel pressure regulator, a new leak in the spider, or a leaking fuel injector/poppet valve I didn't see, or a small crack in one of the spider legs.   The vacuum line leading to the fuel pressure regulator doesn't have raw fuel in it. It doesn't even smell like fuel when it's pulled off, not until you suck air through it, then you can tell it leads to a fuel component. I'd consider that normal? Nothing is signaling this is a FPR issue from the outside, at least.   The oil smells like fuel but it's not building volume. I've noticed most oil in most engines smells like fuel to some degree so it's hard to say if the smell is an issue or not. Or if the engine just still smells like fuel because the crankcase was full of it a few hundred miles ago. But it's been changed twice since that original issue of the leaking fuel line dumping fuel into the intake.   Patience is running very thin. Every win seems to be accompanied by two steps backwards, or another issue that leads to removing at least the top half of the intake manifold. Enough! LOL
