At what tempurature will the cooling fans come on for a 2007 Silverado nnbs when engine is idling in park ? My engine is a 4.8L. I have been told by the dealer that the fans will turn on approx. 227 degrees.

I don't know what the GM spec is but mine are on well below 210. In fact when at full operating temp, I have a Fluke 62/WWG infrared thermometer that I checked parts under the hood with just goofing around and NOTHING (including the radiator, intake manifold, cylinder heads, engine block) was over 188 degrees. The intake was actually much cooler at around 145. The only hot spots were near the exhaust manifolds on the heads and of course the manifolds themselves. They were up over 300 in isolated spots spots. Other items might get hotter on occasion but I doubt seriously that the sensors are set to trigger the fans anywhere near 227 degrees.

YMMV but this is what my truck does. Get a thermometer gun and see for yourself. The Fluke was about a hundred bucks but there are models that run less than 40.
