License Plate Hardware

I have a 08 Yukon that didn't come with any hardware. Did GM quit putting this in new vehicles? Also what type of oil does the dealer use when changing your oil?

On the oil question, it depends on who the dealer gets their bulk oil from. It could be different companies. Probably the lowest bidder. Now GM Goodwrench oil is made by Mobil.

Have a good one

oK if yours didnt come with a tag bracket it then you will need

Part number 10385879 w/o y91 (denali opt.)

or Part number 15211490 w/y91 (denali opt.)

most dealers use some sort of penske brand oil, honeslty they go with whoever is cheapest, unless you specify, for example all vehicle that use Mobile one we use that only, all vechicle that use something else like castrol, we only use that...like our lotus brand has to use that castrol so we keep multiple cases.

either way they should have you covered and there's only but 3 oil manufacures in the word or i belive a coupled have merged to make just a couple.

OK I'll give it a small shot:

http://nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/List-of-oil-companies

Thats not counting all the synthetic manufactruers. PAO, Ester, Hatco is the bigest maker of ester synthetic in the world, located in NJ.

Then there are the blenders Amsoil, Royal purple, Shaffers, RedLine, ect

Pennzoil, Quakerstate are owned by Shell

Havaline is owned by Conoco/Phillips

Castrol is owned by BP

Valvoline is owned by Ashland

Exon/Mobil - all Mobil products and thats MOBIL not MOBILE.

Penske does not make oil. One of the Oil companies makes it for them. I don't recall who and I'm not looking it up.

And so on...............

Ok i stand corrected Don, i did not mean to sound like an expert on that exact comment, but had just heard that most were all bought out or traded to the point where you only had 3 majors, Exxon, Penzoil, BP. and the family tree had just been sub down to multiples as you found on that site,

Actually as you guys were waiting on the 10 second reply i had called our petro supplier here at the dealer and tried to get a referance or to be corrected by our rep, but he was on vacation..lol But i also had found a simalar list on wikipedia...close to yours, but dont like to referance them cuz the end user can edit those pages from what i understand.

So my appologies about the oil deal ctodd, and don but either way ive been working at dealers for a long time now and will tell you that either way they will help you out. Even if you cant spell and you wrote mobile and realy wanted mobil. There not that rough and they know what you mean.

Thats OK buddy, They give me hell for spelling, (to err is human, to forgive is not forum policy) and sometimes I'm a grumpy old man.
