Guys

New to your site, I have a 2006 Silverado 4.8Lt V-8 4x4 with around 30KM on it.

The truck comes off warranty in a couple of months and I am looking finding a more HP and Torque. I pull a snowmobile trailer with it and the thing labors up the smallest of hills when I am towing the trailer. I have talked to a buddy who also owns one of these and his is about the same.

What can I do that will give me some more pulling power, aside from dropping a crate motor in it that will get me up the hill without being passed by grampa.

Would like to accomplish this for the least amount of money (under a grand). The truck already has duals from the cat back.

Thanks Guys for your help on this

No it's the fake duals from just in front of the rear wheels. Single pipe into a splitter muffler (sorry not sure what it is called). I did it for the sound just after I bought the truck

I took it to a muffler shop and they cut off the big muffler and added the new one

I would also say to add a tune. I've done alot of researching and it seems Blackbear Performance is the way to go. I plan on going with Justin for my tune. While the tune will help I would urge you to regear for your needs. I would bet your 4.8L has 3.42's. A set of 4.10's would wake it up with a loss of mpg on the bad side.

While the 4.10s sound interesting I think I will hang with the 3.42s. I only tow the trailer during the winter on the weekends and end up using the truck more for daily use.

I am looking into tuning but don't know the first thing about it. Have looked at www.blackbearperformance.com and read through the FAQ. Is there a tuning for dummy's book that I can read to understand what is happening

Is there advantage to getting a K&N Cold air intake? Just priced one of those out and they are about 420 taxes in (canadian) from the local speed shop. They say that I might see about 8HP but probably nothing for torque

I guess I should have bought the 5.3 back in 06 when I got the truck I was just too cheap to spend the extra 1000 + dollars at the time.

Guys awesome site and thanks so far for all your help
