Signals/flashers/drl's

On one of the most recent butt freezing cold nights/days here in Connecticut, I started to have a problem with my left turn signal, when I would activate it, sometimes it would make a 'zit' noise and than the signal would blink front and back along with the brake lights, they would blink also. In addition the dashboard light, radio and clock would also blink light and dark. So I thought, well the GMC truck is an 01, maybe one of the bulbs is shot, so I replaced all of them for the right and left direction signal. Still the same problem, so after remembering the 'zit' sound that came from the flasher, I decided to replace the flasher. Still the same problem. When I activate the right signal everything works properly. It's just the left signal that is causing the problem. I also checked the fuses that I could see in the fuse boxes that pertained to the signals/flashers. I remembered reading somewhere in this forum, someone recommended removing the negative battery cable, this person indicated that this action would 'reinitialize' the BCM. Same results.

Than as I was trying to diagnose the signal problem I noticed that my DRL's weren't on, so I checked the bulbs, both were good, I went back into the fuse box to check the fuse, but this one is one of the 'large' fuses and I have no way of checking the fuse other than buying a new one.

Any or all help with my two issues would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 96 with the same problem, turned out to be the trailer wiring harness. Unplugged it,plugged the main harness back together and everything was fine. Bought a new trailer harness and O.K. Something to try if you have a plug in trailer wiring harness. Hope this helps.
