Heater Not Working

I have a 2000 Silverado. Yesterday the heater was working fine. This morning it wasn't. It blew cold air all the way to work (30mins). The A/C indicator light was on and would not turn off even if I pushed the A/C button. The recirc and outside air indicator lights were both off and would not turn on. Last week the Low Coolant message flashed, but turned back off. It hasn't come back on. Any idea of what's going on here?

This is just a stab in the dark but I would venture to say the assembly that controls all of your hvac systems has failed but this is just a stab in the dark. Most of the time you can call the gm dealer and ask what those symtoms usually means and go from there

do you have your knob on windshied defrost? Im not sure about the pickups, but i know my grandma's rice burner uses ac when defrosting the windshield along with heat if thats how you have it set and will not turn off with the ac button. Make sure you have all your HVAC controls set right. If everything is set right and your controls are working fine, you may have a stopped up heater core, requiring a flush or possibly a replacement. Replacement is expensive, because of the labor.

 

Did you check your coolant when you got the indicator light? Its always good to check it, especially when you have a dummy light come on.

You may not have enough coolant in the system to circulate through the heater core.

This afternoon everything is working perfectly. The coolant was a little low, so I topped it off. Maybe the problem had something to do with the cold weather this morning. We'll see if it returns tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
