Re-gearing...

First off, thank you GM-Tech & bobcat5544 for your time and professional input. As I have stated earlier I still consider myself a "newbie donkey" and mechanically uniclined! So here we go:

I have a 2002 GMC Sierra, SLT K1500 Ext. Cab, Step Side, w/ Z71 package. I currently have 3.73 gears that I would like to replace with 4.56 gears. I guess what I'm trying to say is how would I know what I'm talking about. Ummmmm...for example, what is the front gear? what is it called? I want both front and rear gears to be the same correct? So how would I ask/ or look up this information on the internet or talking to a mechanic? Where would be a good place to purchase new gears (both front and rear)? Dependable gear manufactures? And about how much would it cost to do? Thanks again GM-Tech & bobcat5544 and anybody else with input in advance for all your help and suggestions. Thanks again...

Maybe I missed it in another post, but what is your reasoning for wanting 4.56's? Are you running larger tires?
