Navigation Radio Alternative

After all the reading here and the confusion of which navigation unit will work with what type of systems I have found a great alternative I think. A company named Original Entertainment Media (OEM) www.oeradio.com is offering a navigation unit that looks factory. :sigh: The unit features bluetooth, dvd playback, a SD card slot, reverse camera input, RF remote control, the option to add a second screen that others can view while you still listen to the radio. I have ordered one and expect to get it in the middle of next week. I purchased it from Car Electronics World www.carelectronicsworld.com/GM-5301N.aspx for $999.99. Which I think is a good price for all the features you get and do not need any additional cables, lock boxes, or interfaces.

The sales rep answered all my questions easily. This unit is full plug and play. It will bolt up just like the original radio, the factory wire harness will plug directly into the back with no adapters or cutting of the wire. You will retain all the fetures of the factory system like chimes and onstar.

I will let you know more once I get it. :dunno:

I looked into those. They have not been out too long. Crutchfield used to carry the one for the new 07-08's, but it's discontinued on their Web site. Don't know why.

Actually the one that Crutchfield discontinued was an older model (5100). This one would only work on vehicles up to 2006 / 2007 based on if that model had a redesign. Crutchfield says they plan on carrying the new models but do not know when they will start stocking them.

Yes these are new but the company has been around for at least ten years and the reviews I read say they are known for quality noy quanity. I also read that they are aiming more toward dealers than retailers. So that you can get a better radio when you buy that new vehicle and not have to pay OEM prices.

I wish they made one for my 03! I'd be on that in a heartbeat!

They have two universal units. one looks like a double din and the other looks to be a single din flip up.

I think he got the wrong part #. Here is the one for the Sierra.

Sierra Part No

One question I have. They say you need a CNP200UCTM tuner for sat radio, but I can not find it anywhere in their catalog. How much would this add to the cost. Plus the cable you need also.

He probably just linked to the wrong one, the other one looks the same and is the same price.

Well all I have some bad news. The company has gone under is no longer shipping units. Seems they have lost their financial backers due to the economy. I called the company today that I was buying it from to check on the shipping status and after being on hold for about ten minutes the guy comes back on and say that the company never shipped it due to going under. I asked when they were planning to tell me and he say that they were expecting a unit from a different manufacture tomorrow and if it worked the same they were going to just send me that one. Needless to say I cancelled my order and will never do business with them again. Sorry to get your hopes up. The salesman said the name of the one they were getting in is made by a company called Motevo. I will let you know if it seams realistic this.

Well guys, I contacted the Motevo rep here in the Northeast in regards to the OEM style radios they make.

To install a NAV/DVD factory looking radio in my 06 Silverado LT3 with the bose system, it would be $1496, including lan harness and steering wheel control harness. The factory harnesses do not work on their radios.

For that, I'll buy a factory Delphi :-(

i would say just go with this pioneer seems to be one of the best i have seen and at this price you cant beat it... you get a great nav unit, dvd player, bluetooth, etc. for a fraction of the cost. just wish it integrated with onstar somehow(or does it?) http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/navigationgps.aspx

pioneer 900BT or the 90BT

I picked up my AVIV F90Bt for $604 shipped, with the steering wheel hookup and interfaces to work with onstar its was total of around 750-800.
