Hey guys!! I'm all new on this wonderful forum (aaaah! ain't anything else better than a GM TRUCK forum?? lol!) and i want to present my beloved all-weather ride: my '98 Chevy C-1500!!

-305 Vortec engine 230 hp @4600 rpm /285 lbs of torque @2800 rpm

-BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A ''winter boots'' (well since i bought 'em last November. :uhoh: )

-Up-coming '88 front grille to replace the original one for cooler look!!

--And i'm looking to replace my plastic door panels by fabric of vinyle Silverado ones...Anyone can confirm if it's possible to do??

Thanks a lot for looking and hoping to hear from my new friends soon!! :rollin:

Big thanks for your comments, guys!!! To reply to DV2000NJ ( why the 88 grille? Major downgrade in the looks department to me... ), well in my opinion, the '88 grille looks waaaay more classy and ''rich'' than my original one....I'm keeping it, however!!!... Here's a kind of preview of what my truck will look like with his new grille, except that he will have ''full plastic'' head lights instead of seal beams...

Here we go! Just bought it yesterday at a nice little junkyard near my girlfriend's place...Don't pay attention to the plastick body part under the grille..I won't use it...

To each his own, but to me, the early GMT400 (both GMC and Chevy) grilles are ugly as fawk. The front end on your truck currently is probably my favorite GM ever made (other than the 99-02).

:D

Exactly my thoughts. However, I found the styling a plus over the GMT800s I was looking at, as well. :P Using the newer headlights should make it look better, but that grille will still (ha, I rhyme  ) look ugly.

As for the door panels, I assume you have the W/T or Cheyenne level door panels. The Silverado ones are made of the same shitty plastic, but they just have fabric at the top of the panel. You'll have to convert to power windows. Also, unless you want a bunch of non-functioning buttons, you'll need to convert to power door locks and mirrors, as well. Oh, and there is a tweeter in each panel that you'll want to wire up to you system, as well. All of this being said, there'd be a lot of electric work involved.

Lastly, welcome to GM-Trucks.com, and nice truck! Please keep it that way!

Ok! You just convinced me to keep my original door panels!!! :dunno: Too much wiring to play with!...LOL!!! And just for the record, my Chevy's not even a W/T (never knew what those letters were for...Work Truck?? Ok, that was just a lousy guess...LOL)or Cheyenne...He's even lower...Only a C-1500...Almost a ''no name'' truck as i could call that... Honnestly, i don't understand why you hate late 80s-early 90s grille...I've always found it much more classy with the abscence of that huge wide vertical chrome bar that separates the lights from the center of the grille...And i don't want to disapoint you but, the fact that i largely prefer that style of grille is only the SECOND reason of why i replace it....The original one is broken at 4 places as the result of some ''ice skating'' on the highway, ending in a ravine (not too sure if that's the correct English for ''ravin''...excuse me, i'm a frenchie and i hate it...LOL!!). But that and a little bump in my bumper are the only damage that i got....Long live Chevy's!!! LIKE A ROCK!!! Oh and one last thing...Excuse me if i sound ignorant on that one but...GMT400, GMT800....What does that mean?? I don't know why but i'm suddenly freakin' happy to have entered this GM paradise!!..I think i'll learn a LOT in here!!! :D:M16:

W/T, Cheyenne, and Silverado were the trim levels (just like W/T, LS, LT, and LTZ now). Someone pulled off the sticker from the cab (See on that other red pickup where there's a sticker/logo behind the door on the side of the cab?). I'm pretty sure you have a Cheyenne, as do I, except it's a K1500 Cheyenne (C for 2WD, K for 4WD). Oh, and that quote in my signature is just a joke about how the GMT400 trucks (yours and mine) are better than the GMT800s, and the GMT800s are better than the GMT900s (current generation). :D Ours were certainly built more durably!
