What Do You Cook?

What sort of gourmet dishes do you guys (or the ladies of the houses) cook from scratch?

I do the steaks and grilling. I even make an occasional Apple pie. Hot Texas Chili is a specialty of mine too.

Mrs Clown is a great cook. She loves being in the kitchen whipping up new stuff to make my fat ass even fatter! She makes great Chili, Tacos, Enchiladas, and all things Mexican all from scratch. Santa Fe Soup is a specialty too and it's easy to make. Pies, cakes, etc are from scratch... no mixes here.

Our latest adventure is Chinese food. She has perfected the art of "healthy for us" but damn tasty Chinese. She even makes the egg rolls from scratch.

Here is a shot of a recent batch. Hot Chicken & Veggies with Egg Rolls. MMMMMMM GOOD!

I make a leg of lamb that bards write ballads about, but my claim to fame is a split pea soup. Revel in rotundness. Fat is not bad, it is a badge of success and prosperity. Right now my belly identifies me as a well off man in his prime income earning phase.

what is a bard, a kind of band?

edit* after a quik google

"The term acquired generic meanings of an epic author/singer/narrator (comparable with the terms in other cultures: minstrel, skald, rhapsode, udgatar, griot, ashik, ozan, dengbej) or any poets, especially famous ones. For example, William Shakespeare is known as The Bard.[1]"

macaroni and grilled cheese

It is 9:47 at night here and I skipped supper after 12 hours of grueling work on the tarmac. You guys are killing me. My stomach is growling and I look like the proverbial Pavlov dog.

Completely from scratch? Desserts (pies, cakes, cookies) and grilling (steaks, ribs, chicken, etc, etc, etc) would probably be about it. Most other things, I start with a base of something pre-made and then doctor it up, to varying degrees.

Spaghetti sauce, for example... I usually use one of the Classico varieties as a 'base', but then I add seasoned & browned ground beef that was seasoned-up with salt, pepper, garlic, worchestershire sauce, and maybe some onion powder and/or oregano... Add-in some chopped up onions and bell pepper and maybe some more spices... It's not completely "from scratch," but it's quite a ways removed from what came out of the jar.

I actually do cook some stuff, nothing fancy, but I'm capable of more than cereal. <img src="style_emoticons/default/lol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="lol.gif" /> Lets see, I can make pork roll, omelets, pancakes, french toast, and I make mini pizzas a lot.

EDIT: I have no idea what's up with the formatting, but I'm not going to try and fix it... :D

Nothing wrong with that. My wife is big on knowing exactly what she puts in her cooking. She loves to cook.
