Turn it off and back on again and see if it clears?

+1. All my gauges quit working for 1 day once upon a time. The check your #%*((#'n O2 sensor engine light stayed on... but the next day the gauge cluster worked.

I had the same issue in an 02. I went and stated it and the gauges went blank, then a few seconds later came back on and then it shifted damn hard! It was the Ignition Switch, it went through 3 of them in 2 years, so I got rid of it. If it is throwing codes for transmission, then I would bet good money on an ignition switch. 1st time the SES light came on and I think 1 time it did not, but the codes were still there. Juts my .02.

There's a code for one reason or another that's putting the trans in default mode (default = max line, limited gears).

Get the codes read and proceed from there.

I had a similar problem on my 07 Silverado where nothing on the dash seemed to working. i took it to the dealship but they said they could not find any codes. After this happened for about the 4th time, I took it to the dealership while everything was "blank" and left the truck running while I went into the service center and had them come out and look at it/see it. After about an hour they told me something was not plugged in all the way in the dash. I guess I have to take them at their word because I have not had the problem since them.
