No Heat!

1996 C1500 305CID small block

blows cold air when heater is turned on.

first thing tomorrow morning i am going to add coolant, the level is below the tranny cooler inside the radiator.

then i can see if the heater hosesd are hot after i have run the engine for a bit.

does this model have a heater control valve, all i see are heater hoses running straight from the motor to the core.

is there a common problem with the blend air door actuator sticking????

Fill up the coolant first, then report back. If you're low, I'd bet that's your problem.

+1 Low coolant is usually the coolant. Next step is to ascertain why the level was low.

There isn't a heater conrol valve on 5.0 or 5.7 engines

 

Heater core is directly plumbed into upper intake fitting, and coolant pipe fitting. Always flows coolant.

i beg to differ there is a control valve on the 5.0 and 5.7 i just replaced mine on my suburban

Doubt it. You replaced a coolant fitting assembly that deals with --front-- AND --rear-- heat...located near passenger upper wheel well.

 

Remember SUBURBAN...you have rear heat.

 

This guy has a PICKUP which obviously only has front/regular heating setup.

 

WHY argue anyway??? Dude says he was way low on coolant...there is a leak. It's not a fitting problem...he has a genuine LEAK.
