6.0 In 1500 Silverado

Not a whole lot, but you would be better off with a 6L from a truck, unless your racing it and don't want to tow/haul anything.

Really all you need is the engine wiring harness and ecm...It should bolt to your trans and you can use your flex plate on the donor engine IIRC. Mounting in a vette/GTO may be different from the truck, another reason to get one out of a pickup. Your current exhaust manifolds should bolt to the 6.0, as well as your accessories.

 

Overly all...It should be an easy to moderate install.

I was told last night that all ls2 and ls6 stuff like intakes and throttle body and cam would bolt right up to my 5.3 is that true my boss said i could make alot of power out or it with out motor swap it

If you bolt an ls2 or ls6 intake onto a 5.3 you need to move a few things like the water pump etc. They sit a lot lower than the truck intake.

i have to find the article to remember the specs, but there was a company that put a cam/heads/tune into a stock 5.3L truck and got about 400hp out of it. The 5.3L is VERY capable with the right mods. I'll do a little searching to see if i can find it, it was in a magazine i had..
