Bcm/ Sdm Programming Help

Any GM Techs in the Dallas, Tx area. I converted my Gas 6.0L to a Diesel using a wrecked donor vehicle. The one problem I have is the SDM (airbag Sensing Diagnostics Module) was damaged in the donor vehicle crash. I used the one that was already in my truck. My airbag light is on now. I know that the BCM needs to see matching VIN's for it to work.(It has the VIN's from the donor vehicle.) My Service Manual says that I have to use a Tech 2 programmer to do this. I was able to program the theft system using the 30 min. method that the manual shows, but it says it wont work for programming the SDM. Any suggestions or dealers in the area that wont give me a run around for this. Donor vehicle was a 02 Chevy 2500HD with a 6.6l Duramax in it.

Most likely B1001 stored. 30 minute relearn will not help this(there is even a TSB that says so).

You need to learn the restraints ID by 10 minute VTD relearn useing a Tech2. I can't remember if that year model required programming for the SDM itself(because of the age and vehicle type I doubt it), but that may need to be done also.

Hard to say if a dealer would be worried about the engine swap. Maybe leave them in the dark about that?
