2001 6.0l Stage 1

Hi All,

I searched, but came up with TOO much data...

It's been almost 15yrs since I've done any performance upgrades to my trucks.

I've been upgrading by buying the newer models LOL

Anyhow, I'm going to keep this one.

It's a 2001 2500HD 4X4 with the 6.0L auto. 4.10, and 285s.

I want to upgrade Intake, Exhaust, Tune (Stage1)

I've just bought a K&N Cold Air Kit (good deal)

But need suggestions on exhaust. No headers now, but I want my setup "header ready".

Down the road I will rebuild/replace 6.0, and add headers.

Tune? I've been told to get a Predator. Yes? No?

What's been working for you guys (and gals)

PS: I want low/middle range torque, not high rpm HP

Search. Exhaust and tunes have been discussed to death.

As for a header ready set up, best bet is to change out the muffler. I wouldn't waste money on a nice system to find out down the road, 'yer gonna have to hack it up to get it to fit with the tubes.

I agree with the above post, I would not invest too much money on exhaust until you get the headers. Go to YouTube and search different mufflers, pick one you like the sound of and weld it in.

You will get a million different answers about which exhaust is best, everyone has their opinion, but that's exactly what it is, an opinion. Check out Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Corsa, Borla, Flo Pro, etc, etc websites.

As far as a tune goes, most people here are going to recommend a custom tune (me included), but if I wasn't going to go custom the Diablo handheld is the one I would choose.

But the best bang for the buck is a custom...check out this website

Also you can do a search on blackbear tunes and you will not find anything but good reviews.
