cleaning aluminum

a buddy of mine has some corroded aluminum and neither he nor i know how to clean it off...

any suggestions?

A dab of lighter fuel will do the trick.

I don't know if it still exists.

 

The product name was BRASSO.  Of course by the name it was for brass, but it cleaned up all kinds of metals.  Probably was definite health hazard, that's why it cleaned so well.  I don't remember seeing it anywhere in Arizona.  Where I first saw it was in the Far East (Taiwan, Japan, etc) and I've seen it long ago in San Francisco and Monterey Ca.  I would try any marine shop that has cleaners for open water (ocean) boats.

This is what we have been using at the Firehouse for our aluminum diamond plate.  Hands down the best and easiest stuff to use, and the end result is top notch.
