Replacement Air Filter?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I just ordered a Airaid modular intake tube and it's about time to replace my original paper air filter. I want to keep the stock air box but, don't want to use a oiled drop in air filter. Will one of those cone shaped dry filters work or do I have to stay with the flat type.

Will a AEM dryflow work or would I have to ditch the air box? Any other suggestions are also welcome.

The airaid modular intake tube only takes the place of the stock intake tube. The air box/MAF have to stay in place. I would just get that and get an AEM dryflow drop in panel filter. Cheapest bet and will work just fine.

I've got the Airaid MIT and also the AEM dryflow combo with the stock air box. I didn't notice much of a performance difference, but the MIT did clean up the clutter under the hood quite a bit. Also the filter will pay for itself after a few cleanings.

+1 on getting rid of the clutter. I put the Airaid on mine as well

So it has to be a flat panel filter and not a cone shape, correct?

Anyone know a good place to get one? All of the ones I've seen online are cone shaped unless I can use the cone shape.

I bought mine from Amazon. Ignore the picture, it's the flat panel type.

Is that the exact one? It said it doesn't fit a 08 Sierra.

Yeah, worked for me. I think you can verify the part # on the AEM website if I remember correctly.

Ordered up, thanks. These places really need to update their websites.

Ha, and their inventory management. You ordered when there was "1 left in stock" and now there are "2 left in stock"

You sure you didn't sell them one?

They tried sneaking one in on me! I had 1 in the cart, filled out my info, and come checkout I notice the bill was for over $80 :fume: . I know for a fact that I only had 1 in the cart. I guess when the economy is bad you have lie, cheat, steal to keep your profits up.

I'm glad I caught it.

Do the air raid intake tubes make a difference? other than cleaning up the engine compartment

I'm hoping it will just sound cool.
