Will warranties still be honored if GM declares bankruptcy?

Warranty will be honored after Chapter 11, they'll still be in business. As long as they're in business I'd imagine that we're covered. Now if (when?) they file Chapter 11 and then get forced into Chapter 7 (Liquidation) we'll have to worry.

Your right we'll all be driving... dare I say.... Fords, Toyotas and Nissans. Because if GM goes under there is no way Dodge will still be around. They are in worse financial condition. I don't know what I'd buy if GM went under. I guess Nissan. Ive owned a couple of those over the years and had good luck with them. Oy.

I am not even talking about driving or vehicles, I meant in general. Hell, we'll be lucky if most of us can afford a 1974 Pinto, let alone the gas to put in it. The hit losing the 2 of the "Big 3" would have on our already anemic economy would be devastating and could very well turn this recession into a depression. It's not just GM/Chrysler that would go down, think about all of the suppliers and their suppliers. The unemployment rate would skyrocket.

It would be a very bad situation for this country.

On our news lastnight (MN) they were talking about the money our state is going to get and how they are going to spend it, it I Rem right we are looking at 4 billion, and they are looking to spend nearly a third of that on roads. I don't know about the rest of you, MN has 2 seasons, Winter and road work. If some of our money going towards roads, why hasen't helped or worked in the past. There was a talk about building the MN Vikqueers a new staidum, that would create 4k jobs for 3 years, that maid sence to me, give a rich owner a free building B.S. You'd think the city or state would build me a new place for my motorcycle store? hell no. In my opion the banks are to blame for this whole mess, and they drug us and the housin Ind in too. We bailed there dumb asses out, gosh know, don't help our auto Ind out. it's not like there isn't millions of jobs relying on them, new,used,shops,aftermarket etc. I'd say give ppl that filed taxes 5 plus years ago 10k or 5k if your not married and over 21. Most of us would pay some bills off and use the rest to buy a new or newer car or truck, buy a motorcycle or atv, get that big screen tv that you didn't want to put on a credit card, that my friends would put some cashflow back into our states.

Does your store bring in millions of $$ in revenue to the state every year like a professional sports team does? I didn't think so. Every other pro football team has billionaire owners and they get stadiums built that are partially funded by their state, why should the Vikings be any different?

I do think that any value a new stadium gives the team should be distributed to the state accordingly upon the sale of the team though.

rev353, how much does your State typically spend on road construction any given season? By getting the money from the federal government allows the state to use that money for other things such as police, fire or schools, whatever the need is for there. It also helps create jobs, but putting construction workers to work. Of most of the people I know the construction people are the ones who will really help get the economy back up and running. They are the ones who buy wheels, tires lift kits get coffee from the hot barista, go drink, and take wives/girlfriends out to dinner. Those types of people are the ones who make money and spend money. As for bigdoxx the current president has nothing to do with the current economic situation and the administration can not be blamed.

Will warranties still be honored if GM declares bankruptcy?

I called GMC about this. There line is " well we hope it doesn't come to this and a great deal things must happen before Chapter 11..." I have an GMAC extended warranty and they said that I would be covered because the policy is underwritten by an insurance company beyond GM.

This is the stupidest statement I have ever read in here. Every administration gets the blame for every problem plus the current president was a senator when many of the stupid moves were made in washington. He did nothing to improve the situate ion. Nice try at dodging there. If you really want to place blame where blame belongs you might want to look up the name Clinton.
