Cv Joints

Recommended Posts

We have a 2006 2500HD at work that needs the front CV joints replaced.

Guys in the shop are fairly knowledgeable and have done drive shaft ujoints and things like that, but we're not sure we want to tackle this one.

Does the job require splitting ball joints or dropping the lower A-arm or messing with the struts?

A quick description of the process would help us decide whether to do it in-house or farm it out.

Thanks!

Disconnecting the upper ball joint so you can pull out the outer cv joint from the spindle after you take the huge nut off that holds the cv joint in the spinde and then unbolt the six or eight little bolts from the transfer case side and out she comes.

PM if you need any more help. My Dad owns a CV Joint and Power Steering shop.
