Zw7 Replacement Shocks

I was about to pull the trigger on ordering Bilstein HD shocks until I did a little bit more research. I found out that my Tahoe is equipped with the ZW7 Premium Smooth Ride suspension package which is not electronic nor pneumatic. However, they are specified as "self leveling", whatever that means? I've heard that if I wanted to install the Bilstein HD shocks that I would need a new set of rear suspension springs, is that true? I was searching on www.rockauto.com for direct replacements and I found a set of AC Delco front ($107.79/ea) and rear ($291.79/ea) shocks, totaling $799.16 for the set compared to $204 for a set of Bilstein HD's on www.shockwarehouse.com.

If you know what's up, please fill me in! I would like more information on the stock ZW7 suspension package and the "self adjusting" rear shocks and (other than cost) the pros/cons of replacing with Bilstein HD's or the original AC Delco's?
