hey everyone i have a friend with an 2008 2500 cevy duramax the trucks servine engine soon light came on and he liost almost all power .he took it to local shop they flashed computer and told him it was particulate filter,excuse the spelling. it was back to normal now he is half way to arizona(we live in ohio)and its doing same thing almost total loss of power with service engine light on,now he does pull a 40ft trailor ,hes basicailly s o l ,, he is very mechanically inclined in diesels usually.but its hard with computers unless you work with them everyday.hpefully a tech has seen similiar problem and can help a.s.a.p truck has low miles where is trhis filter located?

Yup, its part of the new emissions that are placed on diesels to make 'em more "environmentally friendly"....

 

You can remove the DPF and get a tune such as PPE and that will take care of the code that will be thrown. If he's not worried about the warranty, this would be the way to go.

SO THANKS FOR ALL the info so far so buck or(anyone)this pdf is located where on the exhaust.by the way i talked to him and he said it finally took off running fine again doesnt that sound more like an ecm problem?im not a tech just seems odd
