One of the service advisors I work with has an 05 Xb. Yesterday, his back window shattered out of the blue. Third time this year. Is that effin weird or what? I think there is way too much flex in the body, but at least he decided to get a new truck. Trying to convince him to get a GM. I'm hoping Jim might have some insight on this wndow thing.

I was behind a Ford Explorer on the interstate a month or so ago. The front passenger window blew out and shattered all over the road and several pieces got stuck in front of my truck.

I got back to work and told them about it and a girl that works with me said hers did the same thing in her driveway one day. Who knows!?

On cars built these days the windshiel is made if laminated glass so it won't ''explode'' and shower you with small pieces. The glass in the other windows is tempered and when it breaks it ''explodes''.Tempered glass is very strong on the face of it,but, the edges are weak.If there's something in the window track or pushes too hard on the edge and especially the corners it gonna go Wham! I've heard big pieces (4' X6' X1/2'') and that's a sound you never forget.... a shower of exploding glass isn't something anyone would like. Many times we would replace a peice of glass in an enclosure and the customer would say I was in the other room when I heard this loud ''pop''. Sometimes it's a matter of a bad tempering process....

There is obviously SOMETHING wrong with the glass mounting surface or the installation (or that pellet gun guy that Wing mentioned) That's not normal on any vehicle. That xB is a totally different vehicle than mine. The 08 - 09 models don't share so much as a lugnut.

Jeff, like em or not. You have to agree just the name "Scion XB" strikes fear in the hearts of mankind.

The "Scion XB" strikes me not in the heart, but in the belly.

Makes me hungry for toast. Or an English muffin.
