Another Radio / Amp Question

Recommended Posts

I know I'm new to the forum, but I just bought a 2004 Silverado 2500HD Duramax, and I can't find a thread that exactly answers my question.

Every once in a while when I first start the truck, the Radio controls will be acting normal, but no audio will be heard. It has the Bose radio, and it only seems to do it when it's cold outside, and it almost acts like the amp needs to warm up before it begins to work properly. So far I have had no issues once the amp starts working properly, until I start the truck the next day and it's cold again.

What gives?

Hey there and welcome to GM Trucks! :wtf:

Sounds like there is a break in an electrical circuit that closes when it heats up (ie: the metal expands to close the circuit).

Now tracking this down will be tougher. I'd first test the inputs to the amp, from the radio, to see if there is any power there. Then test the outputs of the amp. If it is the amp then it would probably be easiest to find a newer one on eBay to replace it as tracking down that type of fault in the electronics isn't easy to find or fix.

Not had a similar problem - but the problem is going to be on the output of the amplifier circuit, otherwise the amp wouldn't warm up... start from the speaker outputs and work your way up from there.
