i can get those from work for $61 i will most likely run a 2 channel amp and i am only going to hook up the front two to the amp so i only need 4 ohm.

my buddy has a older 2 channel Alpine amp i am going to buy for 20 bucks its 320 watts so its enough to power two speakers. anyways what do you think about those?

i can also get these from work

for $44, i dont think i would bother hooking these up to a amp though since i dont sit back there and porbably wont hear them anyways

let me know what you think. also would i be able to run them 4 ohm speakers for a couple weeks if i am not able to get that amp or it doesn't work or something?

well, the thing is i can get those speakers fairly cheap and mtx does make some good car audio stuff, and i can get it all through work which is nicer than dealing with the Internet. If i have a problem i simply just get another set coming put the old ones in the box and send them back..

we are limited to what we can order as far as car audio goes i know there is better stuff out there but spending big $$ on car audio isnt really a top priority. im just looking for something better than what i have now they dont seem to be loud enough or very clear, i can pretty much hear the paper flapping and it sucks

do you think it will be a good upgrade?

I have no experience with the components you are thinking of using. I havent heard them at all so its difficult to say if they will sound great or just ok. I will say this..if you dont have the bose system in your truck any speaker and amp upgrade you make will be an improvement. When you remove the OEM units they are shockingly inadequate.

I think you sort of answered your own question. Since you are locked into the choices from your work there isnt much sense in looking elsewhere. I am sure the upgrade will be worth while. The one thing I can give advice on is the amp. Many people over look amps and go for speakers. Just a rule of thumb..a good amp will make marginal speakers sound better. A pos amp will make good speakers sound terrible. I am not familiar with the Alpine amp you mentioned.

For what its worth the system that I am going to put in my truck within probably the next two weeks will consiste of Hertz components up front, coaxials in the rear. I will probably use a sub from JL audio only becuase they work well and require no box building. I will power this with an audison amp. I was fortunate enough to hear just the components in a GMC extended cab and was impressed. Everyone will have different taste in music and thus require different types of speakers.

I would do the upgrade and if you want more you can always add to it. Best of luck to you and I am sure it will sound 10x better than stock especially if you incorporate an amp with the system insted of powering from the HU.

Don't bother with rear speakers in these trucks, just fade them out or completely disconnect them. The rear panels are a royal PITA to remove without breaking them, and after all that work, you'll still have crappy sounding 4"x6" speakers.

Can you get any other brands? MTX is not a terrible brand, but I would try shooting for something else.

+1 New speakers will make a difference, but the amplifier will make an even bigger one.

Wait a minute... you're not going to put it in an enclosure!?

ok so i am getting the two MTX 6.5" speakers and a dynamat Extreme Door sound deadening kit. i will most likely be buying 1/4 Dynaliner and taking out the front seats and center console and laying it down to get rid of raod noise as well. it is about $65 a sheet and i will need 2 sheets but that will down the road but sooner than later..

i actually got a little better price, $55 even for speakers and $67 exact for dynamat kit...so it comes out to $122 and that is with tax and everything..

and now im looking at getting a Kicker 08ZX250.2 to power them but that will be a couple months down the road and hoping for a sale too..

Kyle, I think he is talking about the JL Stealth Sub, in it's own enclosure

well, since both the dynamat kit and the speakers were in a warehouse in the east it is going to take until wed to get it.

but is there anyway i took temp hook them up since i plan on deadening the door and i want to run the speaker wire right away so i dont have to rip off the door panel again.

could i just hook them up to my current amp and disconnect one sub?

You still have that Kicker ZX300.1 right? If so, no unfortunately.

    • Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.
    • I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.
    • 2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!
    • I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
    • An ultra wealthy man had the most beautiful daughter. But, there was a problem. Everything she touched would melt in her hands. No matter what, Metal, Wood, Stone. Anything she touched would melt. She could not feed herself. Because of this, men were afraid of her. Nobody would dare marry her. Her father was despaired. What could he do to help his daughter? He consulted doctors, scientists and anybody who could solve this problem. Finally one of them said, "If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hands, she will be cured." He was overjoyed and came up with a plan. The next day, he held a competition. Any man who could bring his daughter an object that would not melt in her hands would be given billions of dollars to marry her. Three extremely intelligent and handsome young men took up the challenge. The first brought a very heavy steel rod, But alas, when the she touched it, it completely melted in a matter of seconds. He sadly went away. The second brought a beautiful diamond, knowing diamonds were one of the hardest substance in the world and would not melt. But alas, once she held it in her hand, it melted. He too was sent away disappointed. So now, there was one left He was very nervous & sweating. He approached the daughter & said, “put your hand in my pants pocket and feel what is in there." She did exactly what he asked. She felt something very hard. She held it in her hand, squeezing it as hard as she could. It did not melt & remained extremely hard. Her father was overjoyed. Everybody was overjoyed. She was finally cured. Nothing never, ever melted in her hand again. They married and they both lived happily ever after, raising a wonderful family. Question: What was in the the groom’s pants pocket??? Answer below ↓ M&Ms of course! They melt in your mouth, not in your hand. What on earth were you thinking?
