Olms Information

Where is the OLMS information stored? I'm guessing it's in the ECM, I ask because I plan on getting a tune soon and just want to be prepared when my OLMS says 100% when I didn't change anything.

So for those that have a tune where you replace the computer, or those who know where it's stored, please let me know. Thanks.

I did 2 swaps in a short time and both new PCMS flashed me an OLM alert (mines an 02 with no % display).

I had just done an oil change with synthetic so I just reset the OLM. As far as I know my tuner did not touch the OLM info so both PCMs must have been near the end.

While this doesn't answer your question you could always change the oil after the tune and make the matter moot.

It is on the ECM. Whenever I switched back to my factory ECM, I had <1% life left and it got annoying.

I know that when Justin (@ Blackbear) was tuning my truck, it kept having the message, and he eventually set my OLM for 5%, to keep the light from annoying us.

I have a 2007 GMT900, so it should be the same as your 2008.

Thanks for the replies, I kind of thought it was in the ECM, good to know.

I know approximately how many miles I can go on an oil change so I'll just keep track of it the old fashioned way and then I'll change it a little earlier than normal just to be on the safe side.
