2009 Tahoe Won't Start

Father in law's 2009 Tahoe will crank but will not start. Sounds as if it is not getting fuel but the strange thing is that once we let off the key, the starter will remain engaged for a couple of seconds? Called On Star...they ran diagnostics and mentioned something about an abnormal reading from the transmission? I don't have my code reader here with me to run a test and see what code it might be throwing. Could it be a sending unit or solenoid?

Is there a temp override we can do to get it to start and to the dealer or at least out of the garage? Thanks in advance!

Idk about it not starting...I'd just call the dealer. The starter is designed to keep cranking until it starts and disable once it starts or a time limit passes. Try pushing the key to start and letting go pretty quick, it'll continue to crank until it starts. Then try and crank it after it's already running, nothing happens.
