Optimal Tire For New England

What are some opinions on the best tire for mostly highway, but want traction in dirt if needed. I'm in Mass and do a lot of traveling up north skiing, fishing, etc...so want something dependable in the snow/rain too. I'd prefer not too much road noise too.

I ran BFG AT KO's on my previous truck and liked them a lot, but would prefer something slightly less aggressive to keep the gas mileage somewhat in check.

I was thinking the BFG Radial Long Trails, but I don't think they are available in the LT265/75/16 anymore? At least thats what I got from looking at the BFG site. Other thought was the Toyo Open Country A/T which appear slightly more aggresive, but the sipes on the Toyos look really good in displacing water, etc.

If you can afford the money up front the Michelin LTX/MS is an incredible tire. Research that tire on tirerack etc... and you will find that 60K miles plus is normal. I had a set on my old truck that I sold my buddy and he just replaced them with the same tire! They are well siped and very quiet and by looking at them you would not believe the traction they get! I put the Revos on my truck that I have now and wish that I would have spent the extra $ and put the LTX/MS on instead. The Revos are nice and get good traction in wet clay but that is the only place they beat the Michelins plus they are noisier!
