2007 Avalanche P0430 Code

Hey everyone:

 

My '07 Avalanche is throwing a P0430 code every now and then. The code is explained as "right bank catalyst below threshold".

 

From my understanding....the rear o2 sensor on the passenger side is sensing too much "pollution" through that catalytic converter.

 

The truck has @ 40,000 miles on it and runs great. The only mods are a cold air intake...which I just cleaned and oiled along with cleaning the MAF sensor with CRC MAF sensor cleaner.

 

The truck is extremely well cared for...oil change every 3-5 k etc...

 

I can't believe that the cat has failed after only 40,000 miles!

 

Any thoughts on this?

It's not uncommon for an 02 sensor to go out. I have replaced 3 in my truck between 30,000 and 50,000 miles. In some cases any cleaner you may have used could have effected it also. Not a big deal to replace costs about

$150. there shouldn't be anything wrong with your cat
